Thai Basil Chicken

Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs ground chicken (or finely chopped chicken breast/thigh)
- 2 cups Thai basil leaves
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2–3 Thai chilies, chopped
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp fish sauce
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tbsp water
- 1/2 onion, sliced (optional)
- Cooked jasmine rice for serving
- Fried egg (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare all ingredients and wash Thai basil leaves (5 minutes).
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat until hot (2–3 minutes).
- Add garlic and chilies, stir-frying until fragrant and golden (1–2 minutes).
- Add ground chicken and cook while breaking it apart until fully browned (8–10 minutes).
- Stir in soy sauce, oyster sauce, fish sauce, sugar, and water, mixing well to coat the chicken (3 minutes).
- Add sliced onions if using and cook until slightly softened (2–3 minutes).
- Turn off heat and immediately toss in Thai basil leaves until just wilted and aromatic (1–2 minutes).
- Serve hot over jasmine rice and top with a fried egg if desired (2 minutes).
